Hurricane Season Preparation

The Hurricane Action Team works hard to ensure that TSS is prepared in the event of impending weather and each slip lessee can help us with that important task.
Please make arrangements to prepare your boat in accordance with your lease as soon as possible. If you are out of town and need assistance, please reach out to one of the HAT Members!

Here is some Information on hurricane preparation, for your reference:
Remember to properly secure canvas and covers, and secure loose items such as ladders.
Some of the most common problems noted during surveys are:

Wet Slips:
1. Lack of chafe gear protection on lines at rub points on the dock on the boat
2. Worn/aged lines

Dry Slips:
1. Tie down lines of an inappropriate material (nylon tow rope), undersized (500lb ratchet straps for a  very large boat), or lines that are damaged/rotted beyond serviceability
2. Tie downs that were too loose- tighten all lines to prevent motion!
3. Tie downs that were not secured to available cleats
4. Loose items in the slip area that can become projectiles during a wind gust

If a storm approaches, you can expect the HAT to initiate the preparation checklist, with a notification to our Board and all HAT Volunteers. Per TSS Rules and Regulations, any preparation required on the boat of a slip lessee may result in a charge!

Please prepare your boats now!

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update

Florida still requires Floridians to limit personal contact outside the home and exercise responsible individual activity.

All Individuals on TSS property must maintain social distance (at least 6' away from others).
No activities, where social distancing cannot be maintained, will be scheduled at TSS until further notice,

To help stop the spread of the virus, please limit any use of the clubhouse to essential activities, at your own risk, and take every precaution in hand washing, sanitizing all surfaces used, etc.

: You may spread the virus long before you have symptoms.

Health & safety needs to be our #1 priority.  If you decide to use your boat, or participate in some activity at TSS, be sure to follow current government policies and act with a deep respect for the health and safety of others. Anyone at high risk from Covid-19, or exhibiting any symptoms,
should avoid using TSS facilities.

Dockmaster Don Swartz will continue to monitor all boats for safety and security during this phase.
