The occasion: Robert (Robbie) Burns was a famous Scottish poet, who in addition to writing numerous poems and songs, is also responsible for preserving many of Scotland’s folk songs, tales and poetry by gathering them and publishing them, all of this before his 39th Birthday. One of his more notable works is Auld Lang Syne, which is sung throughout most English speaking countries in the world at New Year’s Eve.
